Not a period in history with which I’m familiar, but being that this comes from Mike Stelzel, I think it’s probably quite close ( if not spot on ) for the uniform details. The running pose works well, although the face lacks animation for someone in such a hurry; especially if he’s ducking and diving from enemy fire. I guess that it would be easy enough to paint on some “worry” lines and enhance the expression though, especially in this larger scale.
The hands look well done; again, it’s something I tend to look at, after considering a figure’s face.
I think I might be tempted to try turning the head slightly, just to see if that alters the look of the piece, as though glancing to his left, the separate head allows for this, as it sockets into a round hole at the top of the shoulders.
Also, I do like the way that this company protect the delicate guns ( and other weapons ) on their figures during transport to the customer. The simple job of fastening the delicate resin part(s) to a piece of card almost guarantees that you get the part not only undamaged, but flat too !
A piece of twisted wire is supplied for the drinking canteen strap, and this is very soft and easy to bend into place to make it look like it’s lying naturally against the figure. It also allows the more adventurous modeller the option of having the canteen bouncing in mid-air to emphasize the effect of his running stance.
Casting is, as ever from Michael Roberts, very good, there’s some mould lines to clean up, but not many, and someone who’s used to working with resin shouldn’t struggle at all with these.
This looks like a good offering, and one that we should be featuring in an article sometime soon.
